Assessment of Best Management Practices on Hydrology and Sediment Yield at Watershed Scale in Mississippi Using SWAT
نویسندگان
چکیده
The selection and execution of appropriate best management practices (BMPs) in critical areas a watershed can effectively reduce sediment yield. Objectives this research include developing watershed-scale Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model for the Big Sunflower River Watershed (BSRW), identifying high yield using calibrated validated model, assessing effects various BMPs. efficiency three BMPs, grassed waterways (GWW), vegetative filter strips (VFS), grade stabilization structures (GSS), their combinations reducing yield, were investigated. performed well streamflow (P-factor = 0.72–0.87; R-factor 0.74–1.27; R2 0.60–0.86; NSE 0.60–0.86) total suspended solids (TSS) 0.56–0.89; 0.43–2.83; 0.62–0.91; 0.38–0.91) during calibration validation. simulation individual BMPs revealed that GWW showed highest reduction (up to 44%), followed by VFS 38%) GSS 7%). Two BMPs’ had largest potential 47%) while lowest 42%). Similarly, combination all reduced up 50%. findings study will aid sustainable be valuable managers planners.

Using Genetic Algorithms and SWAT to Minimize Sediment Yield From an Agriculturally Dominated Watershed
Non-point source pollution is well recognized as one of the most critical environmental hazards of modern times. In Illinois, non-point source pollution is the major cause of water quality problems, and soil erosion from agricultural lands is the major source of such pollution. Accelerated by anthropogenic activities, soil erosion reduces crop productivity and leads to subsequent problems from ...

The effects of watershed management practices on runoff production using SCS model in Anbaranchay watershed
Watershed management has different effects on the amount of runoff and sediment and alteration ofhydrological features in a watershed. In this study, the effects of watershed management on runoff was investigated in the Anbaranchaywatershed. For this purpose, the topography data in format of a digital elevation model, land use, soil hydrological groups and watershed managemetrigeon, and also usi...

Hydrological response of a watershed is a comprehensive symbol of environmental conditions and characteristics of the basin. Vegetation is one of the main factors in water resources status, erosion, and sediment of a watershed. Rangelands of Golestan province, Iran due to the geographical location, climate, and destruction of these resources as well as drastic land use changes from forests, and...
